Baseball Opens 2-2
Teton Baseball opened its 2023 campaign this weekend with Midland University in Kansas City, KS. The Tetons split the series dropping their first two games 8-7 and 8-5. The opening two games had no shortage of excitement as there were a number of lead changes, home runs, and quality pitching throughout. Brody Forno gave the Tetons five strong innings allowing just four hits. The Tetons made some costly mistakes near the end of the game that led to them coming up short. Game two did not go as planned as the Tetons fell down on the scoreboard early and could not get all the way back.
Coach Przybilla: "We had our "first time outside mistakes" that really killed us. We did not deserve to win the second game, but I thought we did enough to win the first game, but the physical mistakes held us down. We will look for our team to continue to get more comfortable as we get more time on the field."
Day two was a different story, the Tetons got two great performances on the mound from both Kameron Bartholomew and Jack Hermanson. Both threw complete games and worked very efficiently only walking one batter each. The Tetons offense was highlighted by home runs from Kevin Conway and Chris Shopbell. The Tetons won 6-1 and 5-2.
Coach Przybilla: "We did a better job of hitting with runners in scoring position today. Our pitchers did a great job of working fast and throwing strikes. It kept our defense in the game and sparked our energy. We were able to learn a lot about our group this weekend. We have a very young team that is eager to learn. We saw some good things that are encouraging but we need to just put our heads down and get back to work."
The Tetons will be back in action March 8th in Tucson, AZ against Riverland Community College
