Teton Men open 2019-2020 campaign with win over DCB
NEW TOWN, N.D. (November 1, 2019) – The Williston State College men's basketball team had a strong start to the 2019 season, earning an impressive win in the MonDak Preconference Tournament.
The Tetons picked up a 98-84 win over Dakota College Friday, moving to 1-0 on the young season. Williston built a strong halftime lead and carried the momentum throughout the second half on the way to the win.
WSC led 56-33 at halftime, thanks to a .455 shooting percentage in the first half and hitting 21 free throws. Defensively, the Tetons also put up a solid performance as WSC limited the Jacks to a shooting percentage of .360. Williston forced 14 turnovers and held a 49-34 advantage in rebounds.
Individually, Eden Holt and Jordan Kellier led Williston with 23 points apiece, with Kellier also picking up a double-double with 13 rebounds. Other double-digit scorers included Kobey Lam (15 points), Shae Linton-Brown (12 points) and Jonathan Komagum (11 points).
With the win, Williston advanced to the semifinals of the tournament on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m versus Lake Region State.
