Briercrest Takes Two
The Williston State College volleyball team was back at home this weekend for a non-conference match up with Briercrest College. On Friday, the Clippers won in three sets. 20-25, 27-29, and 11-25.
"Tonight, we played timidly, and did not execute," said head coach Caitlyn Muder. "We need to take advantage of what's working for us and pay attention to what is happening on the other side of the court. We have to utilize our middles more."
Alyssa Oliver led the defensive effort with 13 digs. Sam Timmermans led the way with 7 kills and Alexis Moline had 15 assists to lead the Tetons offense.
On Saturday the Clippers took the match 3-1. The Tetons would follow a first set loss with a 25-21 win to even the match 1-1. The Clippers took the third set 16-25. Set four saw a back-and-forth match-up. The Clippers would prevail winning 30-28 sweeping the weekend series.
"Quick defense kept us alive in today's game, but we didn't take advantage of several opportunities that were given to us, and we paid the price," said head coach Caitlyn Muder. "It's crunch time and we are preparing for a tough week ahead."
Alyssa Oliver had 24 digs; Jaycee Turcotte led with 4 blocks. Alexis Moline continued her quality play with 23 assists.
Highlights:
Alyssa Oliver surpassed 500 career digs as a Teton. WSC is 4th in the country in digs per set.
