Bio
Jared Ward enters his 5th season as the Head Women’s Softball Coach at Williston State College, continuing to build a competitive and player-focused program for the Tetons.
Ward’s coaching journey is rooted in a lifelong passion for baseball that began while his family moved between Florida and Colorado. No matter the location, the game remained a constant. After high school, Ward continued his playing career at NCAA Division II Salem International University (Salem University) in West Virginia, where he later earned his MBA in Sports and Recreational Management.
In 2017, Ward arrived at Williston State College as an Assistant Baseball Coach. During his two seasons with the program, the Tetons captured both the Conference Tournament and Conference Championship—marking the first time in MONDAK Baseball history that the same team won both titles in the same season.
Following that success, Ward transitioned into the role of Strength and Conditioning Coach for Williston State College. While overseeing athlete development in the weight room, he was also asked to join the softball coaching staff on the field. His impact and leadership quickly became evident, and two seasons later he was selected as the Head Women’s Softball Coach.
Ahead of his first season, Ward expressed both excitement and purpose in the opportunity.
“I’m filled with a lot of emotions right now. I am excited for the challenges that lie ahead, and I am looking forward to working alongside the staff to give these girls the year they want to have,” said Ward. “We aim to build a competitive program and create avenues for current and future Tetons to have successful careers long after Williston State, on the field and in life.”
As the program has grown, so has its foundation.
“Things are a lot different from year one to year two,” Ward noted. “We’ve had more time to recruit and really begin setting a foundation for the program. Our returning sophomores are hungry and ready to roll, and our freshmen are a talented, energetic group excited to compete.”
Now entering year four, Ward leads the Tetons following a 22–27 season in which the team finished just one game shy of the Region XIII Championship game. With continued emphasis on development, culture, and competitiveness, Ward remains committed to pushing the program forward and positioning Williston State Softball for sustained success.
