WILLISTON STATE COLLEGE HOCKEY PROGRAM TO PAUSE AS NATIONAL SEARCH FOR NEW HEAD COACH BEGINS
Williston, ND — Williston State College (WSC) has announced a temporary pause for its Teton Hockey program for the upcoming 2025–2026 season as the College begins a national search to fill the current head coach vacancy.
This decision was made to ensure the long-term success of the program by allowing time to find the right leader to guide Teton Hockey into its next chapter. Once a new head coach is identified, WSC plans to give them a full year to recruit, build relationships, and lay a strong foundation for the program's return.
"Our goal is to rebuild this program the right way—with intention, strategy, and leadership that reflects the values of Williston State College," said Dr. Bernell Hirning, President of WSC. "This pause allows us to step back, evaluate, and make decisions that will benefit our student-athletes and the future of Teton Hockey."
WSC remains committed to the long-term strength and integrity of the Teton Hockey program and looks forward to its return. This planned pause reflects a strategic approach to rebuilding—one that prioritizes thoughtful leadership, strong recruiting, and a solid foundation for future success.
The College thanks its loyal fans, supporters, and student-athletes for their continued belief in Teton Hockey and will provide updates as the search process progresses.
