Teton Baseball Ends Regular Season
Teton Baseball wrapped up MonDak play on Sunday taking one of two games from Bismarck State. The Tetons finish the regular season 28-14 and 16-8 in conference play making them the three seed heading into the post season. There will be no MonDak baseball tournament this year. The league has decided to go to a series format where there will be three host sites. The top three seeds from the regular season will host a playoff series. 1v6, 2v5, 3v4 on Saturday and Sunday of the coming week. The Tetons will be the three seed and host Dawson. Game times and field location are still to be determined as we are waiting to see if Aafedt Stadium will be playable by the weekend.
The Regular season saw a number of stand out players. The Tetons had statistically the best pitching staff in the conference with a team ERA of 3.98. Brody Forno has thrown 45 2/3 innings and recorded 59 strikeouts and has a 2.38 ERA on the season. Kameron Bartholomew has thrown 43 innings with 30 strikeouts and recorded a 2.51 ERA. Kody Butt recorded 30 innings pitched striking out 39 and ended with a 1.19 ERA. These three have carried the staff through out most of the season. The Tetons will look for them to continue their success in the post season.
Offensively the Tetons had a number of major contributors. Chris Shopbell hit .350 with 12 doubles, 1 triple, 9 home runs, and 42 RBI's. He also recorded 27 stolen bases. Kevin Conway hit .329 with 11 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, and 40 RBI's. Zach Stark hit .315 with 10 doubles, 3 home runs, and 25 RBI's. There were a lot of players that could be talked about. It seemed like everyday a new guy stepped up with a big hit to change a game.
Lastly, the Tetons led the Mondak in fielding percentage. As a team they fielded 96.4%. This was a major improvement from the 2022 season where the Tetons fielded 93.2%. Jack Mcqueen (2B) fielded 98% with 49 assists making just 2 errors. Kevin Conway (3B) fielded 94% with 59 assists making just 5 errors. Zach Stark (C) fielded 99% with 28 assists. Stark also led the conference in runners caught stealing with 22 on the season.
Teton Baseball will be back in action Saturday for MonDak Post-Season play against Dawson. Time and Location will be announced when they are final.
