Baseball Takes 3-4 from Miles CC
Williston, ND — The Williston State College baseball team continued their strong run of form this weekend, winning 3 out of 4 games against Mon-Dak rival Miles Community College. Behind dominant pitching, timely hitting, and a resilient mindset, the Tetons took the series in convincing fashion, despite battling through a handful of key injuries.
Game 1 set the tone as sophomore right-hander Matt Thompson delivered another masterclass on the mound. Facing one of the Mon-Dak Conference's most potent offenses, Thompson went 5.1 innings, allowing just 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 8 in a 7-2 Teton victory. The win gave WSC an early edge and momentum heading into the weekend.
In Game 2, the Tetons rode their Game 1 momentum and edged out a 6-4 win with clutch pitching and a late offensive push.
Miles responded in Game 3 back in Miles City, handing the Tetons their only loss of the weekend, 6-1. But WSC bounced back in the series finale, grinding out a 7-5 win to clinch the series.
What made the series win even more impressive was the Tetons' ability to play through adversity. Starting third baseman Logan Dreher was sidelined for all four games, and starting shortstop Brady Henke exited midway through Game 4 due to injury. Still, WSC rallied behind solid depth and team-first execution.
The Tetons will now focus on getting healthy as they prepare for another crucial Mon-Dak matchup next weekend against Dawson Community College.
