Williston State Men's Basketball opens Iowa tourney with strong win
WILLISTON, N.D. (December 6, 2019) - A long day of travel ended with a sweet reward for the Williston State College men's basketball team.
The Tetons, who faced an arduous travel affair getting to Ottumwa, Iowa, for a regional tourney, earned a strong win in the Friday opener. WSC beat Marshalltown Community College, 84-79, to move to 8-3 on the young season.
Williston State took a strong 47-35 lead at halftime, making 7-of-14 three-point shots. WSC led by as many as 18 points early in the second half, utilizing physical play that saw the team made 24 free-throws in the win.
Jordan Kellier had a standout performance for the Tetons, finishing with a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds. Eden Holt had a team-high 30 points, finishing with a 6-of-11 performance from three-point range. Kobey Lam scored 14 points and Shae Linton-Brown had 10 points.
Williston will go for an undefeated record in the tournament on Saturday, facing off against Indian Hills Community College. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
