Williston State Men’s Basketball Outlasts United Tribes, 109-88
In a high-energy matchup, the Williston State College Tetons men's basketball team outlasted United Tribes Technical College, securing an impressive 109-88 victory. The Tetons fought hard throughout the game before pulling away in the final minutes of the second half, demonstrating their resilience and offensive firepower.
Rex Stirling was the star of the night, returning to top form with a dominant performance. Stirling posted an impressive double-double, finishing with 25 points and 15 rebounds. His inside presence and ability to control the boards were pivotal in the Tetons maintaining their edge throughout the game.
Not to be outdone, Josiah McDonald also shined for the Tetons, contributing 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. McDonald's all-around effort provided the spark Williston State needed on both ends of the court.
The Tetons showcased their offensive efficiency, shooting a scorching 56.6% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range. While the visiting United Tribes team put up a strong effort, shooting 36.7% from beyond the arc, their offensive production wasn't enough to keep pace with the relentless attack of the Tetons.
The game remained tightly contested through the first half and much of the second, with United Tribes staying within striking distance thanks to their sharpshooting. However, Williston State's depth and composure proved decisive as they closed the game on a strong run, outscoring their opponents by a wide margin in the closing minutes.
The victory adds another notch to the Tetons' season record and serves as a statement of their growing confidence and cohesion. With momentum on their side, the Tetons are poised for more success as they prepare for their next challenge.
Williston State will now hit the road next weekend before returning to "The Well" Feb. 3. For now, the Tetons can celebrate a hard-fought and well-earned win.
