Softball goes 1-3 against Miles Community College
Williston State Tetons snatched the lead late in their 3-2 victory over Miles CC Pioneers on Saturday. The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Jersey Berg singled, scoring one run.
Both teams were strong in the circle. Williston State Tetons pitchers struck out eight, while Miles CC Pioneers sat down five.
The Tetons opened the scoring in the first after Adelaide Rambo hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Khloey Robinson tripled down the right field line on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, which helped Miles CC Pioneers tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.
The Pioneers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Rylynn Krein singled, scoring one run, to give Miles CC Pioneers the upper hand, 2-1.
Williston State Tetons captured the lead, 3-2, in the top of the seventh after Miles CC Pioneers committed an error, and Berg singled to the left side of the infield, each scoring one run.
Jamison Langois led things off in the circle for Williston State Tetons. The hurler allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking six. Rylie Schlepp led things off in the circle for Miles CC Pioneers. The hurler surrendered five hits and three runs (two earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four.
Berg and Rambo were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Williston State Tetons. Number nine hitter, Shaylyn Russell, showed the depth of Williston State Tetons's lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Bria Bonik led Williston State Tetons with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing four walks for the game. Cameron Macdonald stole two bases. Williston State Tetons ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Williston State Tetons were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Hailey Hunt made the most plays with nine.
