Teton Softball Closes a season of growth
Williston, ND — The 2025 softball season came to a close for the Williston State College Tetons on Saturday, following a 9-1 loss to the Miles Community College Pioneers in the Region XIII Tournament. While the tournament run ended short of a championship, the Tetons wrapped up a season filled with major strides, posting their first 20-win campaign in a decade.
The Tetons opened the tournament strong with a 4-0 shutout over Bismarck State College. The offense was sparked by power hitting from Jenna Etcheberry and Jersey Berg, who each launched two-run home runs to give Williston State an early edge and the eventual victory.
Momentum faltered in the following game, as the Tetons were blanked 6-0 by Dawson Community College. Despite a tough day at the plate, the team showed resilience.
That resilience paid off in their next game—a tightly contested 6-5 win over Dakota County Technical College (DCTC). The Tetons began to find their rhythm and carried that energy into a dominant 11-1 rematch win over Bismarck State. Jersey Berg led the charge, going 3-for-4 at the plate, including a grand slam, and driving in a total of six runs to power the Tetons into the next round.
Ultimately, the Tetons' run came to an end against a strong Miles team. But the 2025 season stands as a major step forward for a program on the rise. Williston State finished with a 22-27 record—an 11-win improvement over their 2024 campaign, where they finished 11-27-1. It marks the first time in ten years the Tetons have surpassed the 20-win milestone.
Head Coach and fans alike have reason to be optimistic. With a strong core of talented freshmen, the foundation is set for continued growth and success in the years to come.
As the team heads into the offseason, there's a renewed sense of purpose and pride in what's been accomplished—and what's yet to come.
