Tetons Announce 2023-24 Roster
Williston (WSC)- Williston State College head women's basketball coach, Bill Triplett, has announced the Teton women's basketball roster for the upcoming season. While the Tetons graduated four starters from last season in Sydney Labatte, Irene de la Fuente, Hayley Macdonald and Emily Kurkowski, Coach Triplett feels like it's not going to be a rebuild, but more of a reload. "We will look a lot different this year and employ more of a running game and pressure defense, but I think we have a chance at being pretty salty again" stated Triplett.
Elizabeth Field is the lone returning starter for WSC and is joined by returning forward, Canzas Hisbadhorse who served at the Teton's sixth man last year. Both Field and Hisbadhorse had excellent freshman campaigns and will assume a leadership role this season. "You know, those two (Field and Hisbadhorse) got better and better as the season went on last year. A couple things that are so important with freshmen is their confidence and believing in themselves. Learning how to give one-hundred percent every possession and taking it to your opponent is big and they do just that", said Triplett
The Tetons added three transfers in Taylor Moffat, Tilda Mauritzson, and Cami Harris. Last season, Moffat played at the University of Albany, an NCAA DI school in Albany, New York. Mauritzson attended Park University, an NAIA college in Missouri and Harris spent her freshman year at North Idaho Junior College. "The three transfers will give us experience and even out our roster as far as freshman and sophomores go," commented Coach Triplett.
Incoming freshmen include Allie Garcia, Teah Conradsen, Allison Kunze, Therese Carlander, Angelina Khalaf, Alexis Moline and Patience Leon. Leon will redshirt this year and begin her playing career in the 2024-25 season.
"We really like the make-up of our roster. The freshman have the right mix as far as guards, forwards and a post go and so do the sophomores". Field, Moffat, and Garcia can handle the point guard duties and Mauritzson and Khalaf will anchor the inside game. The rest of the roster consists of wings and small forwards. It's a really nice mix", stated Coach Triplett.
