Volleyball Season Review
The Williston State College volleyball team saw their season end with their loss to North Dakota State College of Science in the Region XIII Championship game. The Wildcats snapped a seven-game win streak for the Tetons. The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead with an 18-25 victory in set one. The Tetons would answer in a big way, winning the second set 25-22. It would be all Wildcats from there as they would win the next two sets by a score of 13-25 in both.
"Heartbreaking loss tonight, but it has truly been an incredible season. The odds were stacked against us, but this team has been nothing but resilient," said head coach Caitlyn Muder. "They fought and earned there was into the championship match. I am so proud of them."
Sarita Restrepo had 11 kills and Alexis Moline had 32 assists to lead the offense. Alyssa Oliver had 22 digs while Jacee Turcotte had 4 blocks on the defensive front.
The Tetons end their season as the Region XIII Runner-up. This is considered a major step forward for the program considering the coaching change that took place in late August. The Tetons will lose five sophomores that have been impact players for them for two years. Turning the roster over is nothing new to the junior college level, but it does not make it any easier to replace quality players. There are, however, several big pieces that will look to return for the Tetons. Sam Timmermans, Sarita Restrepo, Alexis Moline, and Madeline Mullins will all look to return as the veteran players on next year's team. They all saw significant playing time this season and will look to take an even bigger step in 2024.
